After being in a wedding last Saturday, moving Sunday and Monday and trying to unpack all week, I haven’t taken many photos of the loft. I’ll post a few I have from my iPhone cam. =)

I was about to go to sleep and for some reason wanted to take this photo. It’s a mess!

And a sneak peek from Sara and Chris’ maternity shoot! Sara is a new neighbor and fellow skating coach. I’m pretty sure our dogs will become good friends! =)

Me being me, I had to claim my territory and make the loft feel somewhat like a home even though I can’t move in yet. =) The logical thing to do is hang shower curtains and bring in two random chairs, right? Oh, and a dog bowl. Yep, that’s what I did. Check it out…

Right now, I’m going for the minimalist look in the living room. =)

Now that I have the loft I will be posting the decorating progress a little more frequently. I’m super excited to work with my interior design friend, Kelly Lafosse, to come up with some crazy, fun ideas to make the space unique and very me!

I realized, with escrow closing soon and selling my old couch after I sold my home, I would need a new couch! Best place to look… Craigslist! I found a perfect couch for $75! Funny thing is after a little bit of Facebook stalking (from both parties:), the seller and I have a mutual friend and we go to the same church. Small world! She bought the couch with the intention to recover it but then found another one that didn’t need to be recovered. My plan… to recover it! I love the style of the couch but the colors and condition of the fabric aren’t great. My friend and interior designer, Kelly Lafosse, came up with the idea of red and pink. What do you think? Red couch, pink piping or pink couch, red piping? Decisions, decisions! I’m really excited to get it recovered and I will be sure to post the final results.

Here it is now… sitting in my parents garage. Please excuse all the stuff behind it… more of my things waiting to go home. =)

The plan is to make it one solid cushion instead of three seperate ones.

So today, I share with you some bathroom wall ideas! Here is a view of part of the bathroom. Before you walk into this area, there is a narrow hallway where the closets are.

I want something kind of fun on these walls so this is what Kelly sends me!

Graham & Brown- Midsummer Wall Paper

If I have this on my walls I’m pretty sure I will sit in the bathtub all the time so I can stare at it! It is pretty pricey though… $60 a roll! So I was thinking… what else could I do that would be similar? Well, I could paint the walls silver and stencil the pink leaves! I found this stencil which has a similar look!

The stencil is $93 (I could only find it on a UK website) which seems a lot more reasonable then the $60 a roll for the wallpaper. If I had an unlimited budget, I’d go for the wallpaper but the stencil will definitely work too!

All of the ideas are coming along so now all I need is the loft! There will definitely be a painting party when I get it so let me know if you want to come!!! =)

On a sidenote… If you are currently in the escrow process at the same lofts I’m at, please email me! I’d love to know what you are hearing from the lender!

The metallic will be on the main wall. Red will be an accent color with the chandelier and maybe a couch. The crown molding (which I’m only doing on the metallic wall) will be black. and the white color will be all around, furniture, walls, and anything with crystals!

This is the wall that will have the metallic paint. Since it is pretty expensive, I’m going to have to find ways to do the rest of the walls for less. One way I’m going to save on paint is have a painting party! If you want to join me and help paint, let me know!

I have to show a few more decrative items. I love crystals and anything with a sparkle so when I saw these at Zgallerie, I had to get them!

So, last night I was up late (I’m pretty sure I’m still on Thailand time) so I decided to search Craigslist for some items. I started practical. I need to get a stackable washer and dryer and really don’t care if it is new or not. I found one, less than a year old for $450! Not a bad deal! If anybody is in need of a side by side washer and dryer I will have one available soon! After the washer/ dryer find I started searching for a few fun items. First, I found these chairs…

I guess they are designer chairs made by David Rowland. They can be found in the Brooklyn Museum permanent collection… whatever that means. It sounds impressive but I really just like the look of them! I have no idea what I’m going to do with them but I’m picking them up today! They are stackable so I figure if I can’t find a permanent spot for them, they will be fun to pull out if I have a lot of guests over.

So after finding the chairs I was really loving the idea of vintage furniture… like real vintage, not a broken down couch from the 80′s. I found this couch and fell in love with it! It needs to be recovered but I think it would look so amazing with the rest of the design ideas Kelly is coming up with! I haven’t decided if I want to get it yet… what do you think?

So, yeah, my new favorite place is craigslist! Great place to find your furniture but probably not your wedding photographer! =)

The home inspection was on Tuesday so I took a few more pictures of the loft…

I’m so excited about this kitchen, I might actually learn how to cook! Jeremy Hatch from AmeriSpec did a great job with the inspection!

As we wait for the loan stuff to come through Kelly, my friend and interior designer, has been sending me more ideas for the loft. I am on a tight budget, which is a challenge for me! Luckily, Kelly knows tons of ways that I can save! First, she knows a lot of companies that make furniture very similar to expensive designer items. For an example, I LOVE this TV stand. It runs about $700, which is a little high but still much cheaper than the real designer pieces. I feel like if there are a few pieces I love, I can spend more on them and save in other areas.

Is this not gorgeous!! Love it!

Start from home – don’t buy…revive. Take old pieces of furniture or even accessories and give them a new lease on life.

It’s all about recycling in our new green world and there is something about the craftsmanship of older furniture that is difficult to find these days. Why not take that drab old armoire or console and lacquer it or even ‘re-build’ it – place it in another space in your home – give it a new look and a new function! A set of vintage dining chairs painted high gloss lacquer kelly green would look Fabulous! Go for it!

I love this tip and will be doing this with my dining room table and buffet. Stay tuned for the crazy color choices!!
