Laffit Pincay Jr. and the Lawn Jockey

A little tangent from yesterday’s post… I posted a photo of my grandma with her lawn jockey and remembered there was a photo published in Sports Illustrated with the Dante racing colors. It was an article about jockey, Laffit Pincay Jr. (link is to the article the photo was in), and it was published shortly after he won a stakes race with one of our horses back in 2001. It was one of the horse racing highlights for my grandpa and the rest of my family. I always thought the image was so cool because it showed the back of the colors with the “D”. Horse racing is something that has been special to my family since way before I was born. My grandpa also trained horses when my dad was young. Sometime I’ll have to share more about it! For now, I’ll just share this one images… gotta love Google!

Matt Dante - Laffit is one of the best jockeys of all time.

Janet - So cool you found it!

Mike/Dad - Laffit was also the our jockey in 1999 when we won the Rapid Transit Stakes in Minn. He was and still is all class.

Kathi Micu - That is a cool bit of history Richelle. It even got your Dad on their commenting, he he! Nice commentary too, Mike, that Leffit was your jockey at one time!
