I’ve seen some photographers post images with a ghostly look and I’ve always wanted to try it. I knew it had to do with long shutter speed and not being in front of the camera the entire time. So I experimented with it! I started in my office and set my camera on a shelf (I couldn’t find my tripod). I had a shutter speed of 30 seconds, ISO at 100 and f-stop at 5 or so. The first few times I didn’t appear in the image so I figured I wasn’t standing there long enough. Eventually I figured it out and had to stand there for a good 15 seconds or so. The result was pretty cool so I went outside…
I set up a barstool and since there was more light than in my office, I had to go to f/16 and 15 seconds (ISO still at 100). I tried walking (first image) and in the second I wanted to have six arms (since I could really use them all right now!). I think these turned out pretty cool and may play around with it more at an engagement shoot this weekend. Let me know what you think and be sure to try it out yourself! Oh, and please excuse my gym clothes… I wasn’t originally planning on posting these on the blog. =)
For this one I slowly took steps away from the camera.

I held my arms in each position for about 4 seconds to get my six arms. =)
