If you follow my blog you might know I’ve been planning something BIG for my website! I wanted to do a video… something different, something that brides could relate to, something that showed who I am and something that is, well… dreamy!
The idea started when I was a child (little did I know). My friends and I used to play “bride”. One of us would be the bride and the other would be the officiant. I would kiss my invisible husband and happily walk away as husband and wife. Then, my friend and I would switch roles. This was so fun, and I’m not sure why =). I also loved looking at bridal magazines and drool over the beautiful poofy white dresses and all the yummy details.
One day recently I was listening to a song from Snow White (don’t ask why), “Some Day My Prince Will Come”, and was thinking how as little girls, this is what we dream of and relate to. We want to be the princess. When we grow up, the one day we have to live out this fairy tale is our wedding day. Then I was thinking, “WOW and I am the one trusted to capture these moments?!? What an amazing and special job I have!”
So with all those thoughts, I wanted the intro video for my website to bring it all together. I contacted Nathanael at Heschle Video Production gave him my very basic idea and he created something beyond what I could have imagined. He listened to my ideas, and made it his own. I could not be happier with the result!
A few more people that made this video amazing are:
Lauryl Lane who did the bouquet and boutonniere. Seriously love her work!
Jamie from elyseREUBEN Couture Gowns let me borrow one of her gorgeous couture wedding dresses!
Rebecca from Rebecca Leigh Weddings did an awesome job on Caitlin’s hair!
Avalon is the little girl at the beginning of the video. I’ve known Avalon since she was a baby and she is such a special and amazing kid! She did an awesome job! Also, if you go to Sea World, she is the voice during the new summer fireworks show!
Nile and Caitlin were the bride and groom. They are newlyweds and were so kind to take a day to be models! Their love was definitely real and easy to capture on video and stills!
So, to see the video, you can go to my WEBSITE or you can watch it in HD below!! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think. I am so excited to have a video that really shows me, my style and love for weddings!
Give it a second to load before you start watching. =) More details about the video are below…
Dream from Richelle Dante on Vimeo.
Since the song is called Dream, I thought the wedding should be dreamy. I wanted to create something simple, beautiful and natural. I really am proud of myself for creating the entire look. I didn’t know I could do it! I was on a tight budget so I had to get creative.
The pom poms are made of tissue paper and super easy to make. My mom helped me out and pre folded and cut all of the pom poms before the shoot. Luckily, Nile and Caitlin had just poofed a bunch of poms poms at a wedding the day before so they were pros getting them ready to go!
The archway was a $40 metal arch from Michaels. I spray painted it a cream color and hot glued burlap ribbon to it. I then attached some of little bouquets Lauryl made. The garland behind the archway was probably the most time consuming. They were made of paper cutouts I dyed in tea, then painted, then add burlap, buttons and crystals and attached it to lace ribbon. It turned out really cute and I actually gave it to a friend for her future baby’s room. =)
The backdrop was an idea I stole from an Anthropologie catalog. I went to the fabric store, found some drapery fabric, had it hemmed and stuck rope through it to hang it from the trees. Super simple and great for a few photos! The last thing I made was a “wedding” sign. It didn’t make the cut in the video but I was so proud of it! I wanted it to look old so I put stain on the wood and then set it on fire. Probably not the safest way to create the look, but it worked!
Here are a few photos of my details!
This sign is sitting in my parents’ garage and I’m sure they would love it to find a new home. I’m willing to sell it for a reasonable price. If you are interested, let me know! =)

The archway (and adorable couple)!

My garland…

I love how all the details worked so well together!

Behind the scenes…

Caitlin and Avalon!

A huge thanks to Christina for keeping Avalon entertained during the long day of shooting! I’m pretty sure you and Layla are her new best friends!
