One Day in Haiti… a peek into what I saw.

I just returned on Friday from a trip to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Most of my time was spent in the Dominican Republic where we helped Haitian refugees but we were given a chance to go to Haiti for the day to drop off some supplies. I will share more photos and thoughts from the day when I’ve had time to really process what I saw. All I can say is that my heart literally hurts for the people in Haiti. They need help. They need prayer.

If you can take a minute and say a prayer for Haiti, please do. They need prayer for their government. They need prayer for hope. They need prayer for everything.

If you are praying for Haiti please leave a comment. I’m going to start a list of names of those praying. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it yet…this is still what I am processing. =)

Cindy - Beautiful photos! I'm praying for Haiti and all those affected by this tragedy.

Heather Reynaga - The pictures look so beautiful and sad at the same time, I wasn't expecting that. You are really good at what you do with the camera. I am definetly keeping the people of Haiti in my prayers.

Amanda Leslie - I think it's truly amazing what you have captured during your trip. That's really an understatement. I will be praying for the Haitian people and their country.

Sarah Beth Hill - Really heartbreaking Richelle. Your pictures captured every bit of what the world needs to see and the emotions they convey are just heart wrenching. I am most definitely praying for the people of Haiti.... I'm so glad you were able to go and bring back even more enlightenment to the rest of us. Thanks for what you do darlin'! xoxo SB

Janet - You captured what your heart saw and felt. They were in my prayers last night and will continue to be.

Katie De Smith - These pictures are amazing. My heart goes out to all of them. And Haiti is definitely in my prayers :)

Kathi - So glad you were able to find a way to help, although I am sure it feels like a drop in the bucket compared to what is needed. Prayer's have been going out and I'm glad you have the photos to let everyone know the need is just as great if not greater than when the earthquake happened with the rain arriving. Your photos poignantly captured the devastation.

chantel - i'm glad you did this at the time you did. i am glad we are reminded of what's going on in this part of the world now that the media is done and back onto hollywood. i want to be challenged over and over not to fall into the trap of apathy. thanks for being raw with us!

Jan Metcalf - Hi Richelle Those pictures are heartbreaking. Yes, we are praying for those people and for the government to work for the citizens. That is so great you went there to help Richelle! Your pictures really say it all.Bless the people in Haiti!

Maria Brown - Compassion is one of the most beautiful qualities of the heart. It is beautiful to see that you have so much of it. Your heart chakra is wide and your work is helping to transform the consciousness of the planet. Since the end of January I have been praying and have contributed to "Doctors Without Borders" in Haiti. So much money has been collected and it is way too slow in making a big difference for Haiti. Thank you for shining your light in Haiti and California.

stephanie - My prayers have been with the people of Haiti. But my prayers are also for people like you, Richele, who help those in need. Your pictures speak a thousand words.

Sherri Terando - always praying for people in need, especially those who countries and infrastructure are leveled by disaster..

Bruce Surdin - Richelle - I have been to Haiti in 1976 and it was struggling then and has never recovered, but some of the nicest most sincere people I have ever met. You have caught some great images here and what you did by going there was awesome. I think they will need a lot of strong prayer to recover from this but they are strong people and family people that together will make Haiti a better place. I will definitely say a prayer for them.

Barbara Vanfosson - Your photos were very eyeopening. So many missing families and such deplorable living conditions. We will keep the Haitian's in our prayers.

Dorian Valles - Add me to the list of people praying for those in Haiti....your pictures show just a glimpse of what has taken place and the aftermath of the devastation that will take years to rebuild. Prayers work wonders, thanks for posting these photos Richelle. Hope lives!
