Love my Dog… Amazing Story

So the most amazing thing happened last night but let me give you a little backstory first. I have a dog and her name is Sally. She is the coolest dog in the world. One thing I have noticed about her is that she knows when I’m sad or stressed. She becomes kind of clingy and likes to put her head in my lap. If I’m going to sleep she will lay her head across my neck until I’m asleep (or can’t breath and need to move her). I don’t know how she knows but she does and it’s always so comforting.

I have a roommate, her name is Amber. She is not the biggest fan of dogs. She’s nice to Sally but doesn’t give her much attention and rarely pets her. I’m totally okay with this and understand not everybody loves dogs.

So yesterday, Amber was having a stressful day. She was sitting on the floor with her laptop in her lap. Sally usually lays on her blanket right below my feet by the couch. It was strange… Sally walked over to Amber and just sat next to her, staring. She didn’t want to be petted, she didn’t want food or need to go outside. She knew something was up. Then, she lays her head in Amber’s lap. Seriously, amazing! She still didn’t want Amber to pet her, she just wanted to comfort her. Later Amber went into her room and Sally followed. She has NEVER done this! Amber shut the door and Sally clawed at it until she let her in. I need to emphasize here… Sally has never had a desire to go into Amber’s room unless I was in there! She then stayed by Amber sitting below her bed. It gave me chills. Seriously, how did she know??

Here is an iPhone pic I was able to get of Sally with Amber. (Amber you look great in this photo, please don’t kill me for posting it!)

Dogs are really amazing creatures. I thought Sally would only do this with me since we have a special bond but she really does sense when someone needs to be comforted. I honestly believe in the whole pet therapy thing. Animals can bring you a comfort that you just can’t get from humans. They have an unconditional love… whether you love them or not, they will love you back.

Here are a few old photos of Sally that I just found…

Melissa Munding - My dog is like that too. If I've been crying or just generally upset or sick or hurt (even if he didn't witness any of it) he sticks by my side all day long. It's the sweetest thing. Animals are pretty amazing little creatures. Awwww, I'm gonna miss him when I move this summer...how sad!

Lauren Miramontes - That is so sweet! Dogs are the best :)

Kristi - Sally is such a little sweetheart, Mommy needs to get her NAILS clippped! Seriously when we do our photo shoot I am bringing the clippers!!!! :) Dogs are amazing and they do KNOW when something is wrong!

Pamela Telgenhoff - Awe...soooo sweet and soooo true! Love the puppy dog pics too.

Phyllis Cheung - Awww.. what a sweet dog. I love dogs. And you're right. They just know and they really do love unconditionally. :)

Cindy - Awww what a sweet story! I work with dogs and can tell you that their innate sense to communicate through body language is AMAZING. Its often hard for people to understand this as they are so focused on what body language means in human terms. Its not at all the same with dogs. In many ways dogs are so much smarter than us humans will ever or could ever be! Btw, Sally is so adorable!
