Jason and Angela :: Salton Sea Engagement

If you are one who reads through my blog you will see a theme… lots of sneak peeks! I have found that I’m good at the sneak peeks but not so great with following up with the full blog post. I’m working on it, but no promises it will improve.

Awhile back a did a very unique engagement shoot with my friends, Jason and Angela. Jason is a film maker and has been working with me on fusion videos and wedding videography. If any of my brides are looking for a video guy or a fusion video let me know. It doesn’t get much better than having a film maker do your wedding video! Recently Jason’s film, Jesus People, was in a film festival and I was lucky enough to be the official Jesus People photog for the event (I would say I will blog it but, well, I probably won’t get to it). OK, sorry, got off track there… back to the engagement shoot. I wanted to do something different so we headed out to the Salton Sea. I have to say, it is probably one of the most disgusting places I have ever shot but at the same time it has a mysterious, strange beauty to it. When we got back from the shoot, I Googled the Salton Sea because I couldn’t figure out why it would be left. In the 60′s it was a popular vacation spot and then because of the water levels going up and down it was pretty much left… completely deserted.

Angela was amazing, walking around in heels in 90-100 degree weather in the middle of the desert. Although it was hot, you could never tell by the photos… she did a great job “keeping it cool”. Ha, I think that is the cheesiest thing I ever written on a blog. On to the photos…

The water was so still, only moving when fish would pop their heads up.

Such a fun playground!

I love this pool and I love that Angela wore the inner tube!

Such a sweet moment

I know, it’s kind of scary, but you have to admit it’s pretty cool too!

First home? Real estate is pretty cheap at the Salton Sea.

As we were driving back we saw this cafe and had to stop!

Thanks guys for going out to the desert with me in the middle of the summer. I can’t wait until your wedding… 1/1/10!!
